For my birthday, we went to a newer restaurant in Clawson called Due Venti that specializes in Northern Italian cuisine. I think we have found our new favorite Italian restaurant in the area! It ranks right up there with Il Posto in Southfield. It's a very cozy intimate atmosphere. It is owned and operated by a wife/husband chef team. You could tell that every dish was made perfectly, and nothing was rushed in the kitchen. This is one of the only restaurants in the area we've been to where you need to take of piece of everything on the plate in every bite to get the full effect of the dish. Trying to eat each part of the dish separately left something to be desired. Making all of the textures and flavors meld together with everythign on the plate in one bite is very hard to do, and they did it very well! We will definitely be trying to recreate some of the things we had tonight. Like the sweet potato polenta with balsamic glaze drizled on top. We had a hard time picking what to eat because everything on the menu sounded so good! Check out their website at http://www.dueventidining.com . Reservations are recommended. Price range is $15-30 for an entree, but well worth it! The portions weren't too large either. Here is what we had: We started with the Fritelle (cauliflower fritters) and the soup of the day which was a Cream of Garlic (very good!). I had the Pettine di Mare (scallops over a creamy pumpkin sauce with apple salad). John had something that's not on the website. It was a Espresso encrusted Beef Tenderloin with sweet potato polenta w/balsamic vinegar, and braised spiced green beans. We finished off with the Napoleon di Atunno (white mouse/philo dough and poached figs) for dessert. I highly recommend this place, and we will be going back there soon!
Tonight we are going to Due Venti in downtown Clawson to celebrate my birthday today. We've been wanting to check this place out for a while now. I just checked their menu, and there are quite a few things on there that look fantastic! Look for my review later. I can't wait! http://www.dueventidining.com

This is one of favorite Thai restaurants to eat it. We even hold their Hot & Sour Soup as the one to compare all others to. But tonight, we were sadly disappointed. We split a Chicken Kow Pad (fried rice) no onion, Medium heat. Not only was some pieces of the chicken, peas and carrots burnt, we found numerous egg shells in the rice. We've never had this bad of a dish there before. Besides the egg shells and burnt pieces, it did taste good though. Their Hot and Sour soup was spot on tonight. I hope this was just a fluke.

"Galette is a general term used in French to designate various types of flat, round or freeform crusty cakes." Galette's are great mechanisms to use up lots of odds and ends you have in the fridge. You can put basically anything in them.
